The photograph has a historical significance as Maud Legg-Rowe's connection to Emerald goes all the way back to the 1850s, when her great-grandparents, Sara and James Watson, first came to Australia from England on the ship Whitby. They had eight children; the youngest girl, Emerald Watson, was her grandmother. Emerald married Henry Legg, and they had ten children, including Maud. Maud's first child was David who was born in 1939/40 when she was twenty-three. At forty, she met and married Frank Rowe who was a widow with three children, and they had a wonderful life together.Black and white rectangular photograph printed on matte photographic paper.
