These two minute books document the activities of the Warrnambool and District Amateur Cine Society from its formation in 1954 to 1981. In January 1968 it changed its title to Warrnambool Movie Club. In the 1960s the Society made films of the Florado festivals and in 1960 the Florado film was viewed by more than 3000 people when it was screened at the Liberty Theatre, Warrnambool.These minute books are of considerable interest as the Warrnambool Cine Society was very active in the second half of the 20'th Century. We now hold some of the films they made and these are historically important..1 This is a hard cover ledger with a label on the front cover. The pages have printed red lines and typed and hand written text. There are many loose pages and inserted material. The linen spine is damaged and partly detached. .2 This is a hard cover ledger with a dark blue cover with the maker's emblem on it. These photographs of Mount Cook, New Zealand were taken by Olive Hamilton. Olive and William Hamilton managed a local guest/boarding house 'Silver Springs' located at the edge of Emerald Lake Park in the 1940s and 1950s. Olive was also president of the Victorian Amateur Cine Society Ladies Auxiliary. The firm of Bolex Paillard Ltd is world-famous for its accomplishments in the field of amateur cinematography. Paillard Bolex cine cameras and projectors are designed and manufactured in Sainte-Croix, Switzerland, which was also the centre of the Swiss watchmaking industry. Originally Bol, the company was founded by Charles Haccius and Jacques Bogopolsky in 1925. The M8 line of projectors were first manufactured in 1949. Its relatively light weight, affordability and portability made this model popular with home movie and amateur film makers.This projector is representative of several types of home projectors popular in the second half of the 20th Century.A small projector and carrying case. It is made of cast aluminum and steel, painted with a Grey Silver finish. The upper reel arm folds downward and locks for storage and also serves as a carrying handle. The lens assembly pivots outward for easy film loading and unloading. The front legs can be adjusted individually for height. An AC outlet is position at the rear of the projector.
