Army water canteen, possibly Australian Army issued, with olive green fabric insulating cover featuring flaps with stud fasteners, black twist top lid attached to aluminium body fixed by aluminium chain that is attached both to base and top of lid. Back of fabric cover has a metal prong threaded through a strong fabric loop which has been sewn on for attaching to a belt. This Army jacket made in 1940 issued to VX77837 - William Keith GRAY Born 17-10-1915 at Warragul in Victoria. He enlisted at Caulfield and served during WW2. Service records currently unavailable.The uniforms of the Australian Army have changed significantly over the past century, although the accoutrements worn over this period have remained relatively similar.
