The flagon of port was released for the commemorative cricket match Australia versus England to celebrate the "origin of the Ashes" at Rupertswood in Sunbury on the 18 January 1995. A cricket match took place at Rupertswood in 1882, a ball was burnt and the ashes placed in an urn (according to local legend). The flagon is number 56 of a limited edition of 2000.These flagons were produced for the re-enactment of the original social cricket match held at Rupertswood in 1882. The commemorative cricket match was held in January 1995 with Allan Border captain for Australia and David Gower captain for England A cream and green glazed flagon with sloping sides. The lower half of the flagon is cream with a red, green and yellow insignia to commemorate the "origin of the ashes" cricket match and a brief history of the game. The upper half and neck is green. The tee shirts were manufactured for a game of cricket held on the sports oval at Rupertswood and called the "Origin of the Ashes" on 18 January 1995. The Australian team was captained by Allan Border with past and present players of the time. David Gower captained England with past and present players. At the time this match was listed as a 1st grade match but was later seen as the first Ashes match although Australia had toured England twice before.
