A scalloped edge 2 cm deep, surrounds the edge of the piece, but is either unfinished or damaged, on one side of the neck piece or handle. A central, circular motif is surrounded on three sides by crochet work, while at the top of the motif is the shaped opening for the bag or neckline. Sarah (nee Chamberlain) Lees, Ann (nee Lees) Dale, and Daisy Elvena (nee Dale) Welsh. All three were accomplished needlewomen; also, both Sarah Lees (born 1844) and her daughter, Ann (b 1865) crocheted a wide variety of articles for use in their homes.
