The timetables were developed by Geoff Hendy. Each head of school would forward their timetable preferences and they would mostly get what they wanted. Solid wooden box with rope handles was used to move library books from the Library at Ballarat School of Mines to the E J Barker Library at Mount Helen Campus. The Mount Helen Campus Library was opened in 1973. At that time it was Ballarat Institiute of Adult Education. This was the fore runner of what is now Federation University.
