The model is an example of the type of goods wagons they manufactured at Wright & Edward Carriage Works, Braybrook Junction (Now Sunshine). The company also made passenger cars. Wright & Edwards was one of the earliest major industrial firms in what became Sunshine, operating in the 1880s–1890s as a railway carriage and wagon manufacturer. The company collapsed in the 1890s depression, but its legacy survives in street names and the Railway Station Estate. The factory stood near the Sunshine railway station area, later redeveloped as the Sunshine Reserve (Sports Ground), later to be renamed as the J.R. Pasons Reserve. Solomon Heights in Sunshine North is a 1920s subdivision that was never built, later rezoned industrial, and today remains an undeveloped patchwork of grasslands, quarries, and paper roads. The estate is named after Michael Solomon, an early pastoralist whose 1830s sheep station and nearby Solomon’s Ford were key early European landmarks on the Maribyrnong River. This report was undertaken to identify and characterise the vegetation on-site, to determine the presence (or likelihood thereof) of any significant flora and fauna species and/or ecological communities and address any implications under Commonwealth and State environmental legislation.
