This honour roll was found in poor condition in a district antique shop. It was fully restored by an enthusiastic local lady, It was presented to the Soldiers Memorial Military Museum on 20 April 2022. The Museum is now known as the Bendigo Military Museum. There is a gold rim around the inside of the picture frame. Inside are 15 oval openings, in which are black and white portraits of WW1 soldiers. The writing and captions are in white paint. Photograph, on cream photo paper with picture within an oval shape of the name James Buick & Co Bee Hive Stores Building sign written across the verandah. The building has an ornate roof with six decorative finials in the shape of urn's along a balustrade. In the center is a triangle with a coat of arms. Lace work runs along the rood line. There are eighteen curved windows three have advertising for the Bee Hive Billiard Saloon, left to right one for H. Birch Legal Manager and General acent? and Globe Insurance Company. The fifth one is C. W. Belt Legal Manager General Accountant. the last on the right reads Denson?. One Man is standing on the verandah next to the Saloon window. Illuminated certificate, under the name "Independent Order of Rechabites Salford Unity" two female classical figures standing on either side of a shield. On top of the shield from left: a sword and some grass, a bee hive and a bunch of corn. The shield is decorated with the sun, a lamb, the moon and stars, an eye flowers and fruits and the words: "Peace and plenty reward of Temperance". Under the picture of Noah ark, St George slaying the dragon and a ship wreck. in the middle of the certificate: "Established August 25th, 1835. Registered March 27th, 1854. The written part of the certificate is located on the bottom part and reads: Victorian State School "Temperance Physiology Examination". This is to certify that Thelma E. Smith pupil of school No. 1566, Bendigo, passed in grade VII and VIII at the 1932 examination.Signed by Gordon McGee and James Millar(?). At either side of the written part a boy and girl in mediaeval costumes holding a banner each. The boy's banner reads "Truth and temperance" the girl "Love and purity". To use this foundation mould, melted beeswax was poured , the lid was placed on top, and the wax allowed to cool. The mould was then separated, and the beeswax foundation sheet taken out. Once placed in a hive, bees used the honeycomb impression created by the mould to draw out honey comb cells to store honey and polen. This mould was used by Bill Voigt, a beekeeping friend of the Robinson family. It was donated by Wilma, Val and Richard Voigt.This is antique equipment used by known beekeepers. Rectangular box with base and no lid. Constructed from wood, joined with metal nails in the corners. Used by local apiarist J Laidlaw until the 1980s.Bee smoker consisting of a metal cylinder with a hook, attached bellows, and a hinged lid enclosed in a wire cage. The lid has a spout for puffing the smoke into the hive, and a covered air vent. Fuel is placed in the cylinder and ignited. The design allows for adequate ventilation, and has a spot for 'queen candy' -candied honey- to block one end. The queen is placed in her new hive inside the cage, and once the queen candy has been eaten through -allowing her access to the hive- the hive has become accustomed to her smell and accept her. Bees could be sent through the post in this cage. Used by a beekeeper and provided by Mr Richard Diss (beekeeper's son). The cage is significant because it was made with metal and wood.
