Both books at the top of the spine have a red label with gold lettering Minute Book 1. has brown marbled end papers with blue tape along the spine for added strength inside both covers. Book 2. has burgundy marbled end papers with green tape along the spine for added strength inside both covers. Both books have coloured marbled edges to the pages. These blank books were used by 1. Minute Book of the Berry Growers Section Victorian Fruit Growers Central Association. 2. Minute Book of the United Berry Growers Association of Victoria. Minutes of the first meeting of Book 1. were taken 1st July 1921 in Lilydale and the last minutes were on 14.8.1929. The book is filled with Minutes of meetings. 2. Minute Book of the United Berry Growers Association of Victoria. Minutes of the first meeting of Book 2. were taken on Wed August 14th at 8pm 1929 in the Silvan Hall and the last minutes were on 26.7. 1945. The book is filled with Minutes of meetings. 170 out of 190 pages used. At the back is a handwritten note on faded and foxed lined paper for the 25th Report for the Association which did not have a formal page entry between the 24th and 26th and final entry. John Valantine collected and pasted newspaper cuttings about Mt Dandenong and Kalorama into a scrapbook covering the period from approx 1922 - 1937. Much of the information dealt with the difficulties faced by local fruit growers so John Valantine may also have been a fruit grower. It is also possible that John himself wrote many of the items as from July 15th, 1930, he was appointed a local correspondent for The Age newspaper...John Valantine lived in Farringdon Road, Kalorama. The photograph was taken on the 20th of June 2004 at Bob Dunnett’s place in Wooragee. Bob Dunnett is more popularly known in Beechworth as the owner of Beechworth Berries who oversees around 30,000 strawberry plants on his farm in Wooragee. He comes from a long line of fruit growers, as the son of an orchardist, who was the son of a fruit grower. Bob Dunnett provides strawberries to his fellow townspeople opting to sell his fruit at local markets. National Tree Day is Australia’s largest tree-planting and nature care event as trees, shrubs and grasses are very important in Indigo Shire. The event started in 1996 and since then more than 3.8 million people have planted 24 million trees and plants. As Wooragee community and by extension Indigo Shire value nature such as trees, shrubs and grass, this photograph is significant as it demonstrates community commitment to ensuring the continuity of nature in the region.
