Harry Booth was the son of Jack Booth, who owned Lots 37 and 38 in the Village Settlement and had access to creek water for successful berry crops. Harry was a local market agent and travelled to Victoria Market carrying produce from local settlers.Harry carried a variety of produce by horse and cart, apparently a twenty-four hour round trip, until the business was sold in the early 1920's. Annie and William Booth, with their five children, left England to migrate to Australia in 1923. They came on the maiden of the S.S.Demosthenes. They bought and occupied land - six and half acres in Orchard Grove, Blackburn South - from 1923 to 1942 when the moved to Salisbury Street, Mont Albert.|William Booth obtained an office position with Danks where he remained till retirement.|The home in Orchard Grove was called 'Marple' after the place in England where the honeymooners.|They ran poultry and an orchard - apples, plums, quinces and peaches which were sold for additional income. Herbert John Rumsey (1866-1956) started a nursery and seed business at Barbers Creek (Tallong) near Marulan in 1895. In 1901 he moved his operations to Dundas. From 1896 he regularly published seed catalogues. Some time before 1929 he set up a company, Herbert J. Rumsey & Sons Ltd, which later on (before 1937) changed its name to Rumsey Seeds Pty.
