Portrait of George Gatter, market gardener, whose London Nursery was on the site of Gowanlea. He was an early settler and prominent in horticultural circles. He was the first importer of the 'Rusty Red' and other rhubarb species. He was also a foundation member of the Box Hill Cemetery Trust. Possibly helped design the layout of paths at the cemetery.
