Wilhelm was rounded up by the CIB in Sydney in 1939 and put into Bathurst goal and later transferred to Tatura, where he spent nearly 5 years. He helped out in the dentistry facility as a Dental nurse. He loved the piano and whilst interned composed a march which he called "Seige" and wrote the piano score.
