Ron Bridger was an avid collector of items related to transport, predominately Trams. These items include newspaper cuttings, pamphlets, reports, timetables, fares prices plus special items relating to events. Items from Melbourne and regional Victoria, interstate - Adelaide and Sydney, plus overseas, make up this collection. Item is a white paper bag specifically for the Centenary of the Box Hill - Doncaster Electric Tramway. Dates and times for this celebration are printed on the bag. A sticker for the Centenary also included. .e) Pamphlet giving a brief outline of the Box Hill-Doncaster Electric Tramway. Contains an article that appeared in "The Reporter" dated 17 October 1989 stating the importance of this enterprise - "Footprints in the sands of time......." .f) Yellow flyer advertising a book "The First Electric Road" by Melbourne architect and historian, Robert Green. This will be a limited edition and due for release in late November 1989. Order form on reverse of the flyer to be sent to John Mason Press. Item issued to Eric MacCALLUM No VX41169, (born Scotland, enlisted Caulfield) on 26.6.40, 2/32nd Batt 9th Div AIF, age 31 years 9 months, promoted Cpl 6.8.1940, embarked 15.9.1940 for the Middle East, hospital 25.11.1940 with Haemorhoids, rejoinn unit 17.12.1940, attends Mortar and Grenade schools, hospital 16.8.1941 with PUO, taken POW 17.2.1942 at El Alamein. He served in the Seige of Tobruk, Middle East Campaigns. As a POW it appears he was interred from 1942/43 in Italy then 1943/45 in XV111Austria. He describes his conditions in the camps as fair and that he worked on road works. This is a brief description as to his treatment in his records. Embarked from England 4.7.1945 and disembarked in Sydney on 8.8.1945. A black briefcase embossed with Legacy. There are no details of when or where this case was used.This item is representative of a case that would have been used by staff/ board members/ legatees at one period in time.Crocodile imprint, black leather brief case with "LEGACY" painted in gold on the front of the flap. The flap is affixed shut via two metal clips. The clips can be locked with a key. (Key not located with case) The case has a three fold leather handle attached via two metal D rings. Internally the case is lined with a tan leather flap on each side. The internal front flap as a small sleeve attached. The lip of the top of the bag is scalloped and showing signs of wear.
