Gordon lived in Brighton for only 14 months, but took an active interest in the Artillery Corps. In addition to the memorial plate, two photographs of the Brighton Artillery corps, were unveiled by Mr A. C. Wilson, a son of the Councillor Thomas Wilson before whom the poet took the oath of allegiance to the Queen.
