The present site of HeritageWorks, the offices of the Warrnambool & District Society Inc and Warrnambool Family History Group, is on the area of the Town of Warrmnambool's Swimming Baths of 1890s. Victoria's sea baths developed in 1837, progressing from crude structures, hulks, to magnificent timber buildings often with council involvement and business companies. The progress from bathing, swimming, competitions to life saving and segregated bathing are covered within Victoria. TheWarrnambool Sea Water Baths feature on pages 104 and 105. The hot Sea water Baths in Warrnambool were dominant in the landscape and a leisure activity pursued by ladies, gentlemen and children from 1877 to the 1960s on close two sites.
