This item commemorates the war in Vietnam (1962 - 1972).A Viet Cong flag. The top half of the flag is red and the bottom half is a faded blue. In the centre of the flag appears a gold star. LTCOL George Ricketts presented the Defence Force Service Medal to personnel in recognition of 15 years of efficient remunerated service, or the Clasp for 5 years of additional service. International Association of Lions Clubs, civilian service organization established by a Chicago insurance broker, Melvin Jones, in Dallas, Texas, in 1917 to foster a spirit of “generous consideration” among peoples of the world and to promote good government, good citizenship, and an active interest in civic, social, commercial, and moral welfare. Jones remained an active member of the Lions Clubs until his death in 1961.
