The bluestone building on the RHS was one of the early hotels in the town but was the Post Office and store until it was destroyed by fire in the 1980s. The school is visible behind a clump of trees in the valley. The road in the foreground is the former Bulla Road, which in the 1850s carried traffic to the Bendigo goldfields. The Creek is the Deep Creek which becomes the Maribyrnong River further downstream. In the early days of European settlement, minerals were obtained in the valley at Bulla.
