In 1944 Bishop John McCarthy of the Sandhuurst diocese approached the Vincentian Fathers with a request to open a boys' secondary boarding school in Bendigo. Permission for the building of the college was granted on 16 January 1945. In July 1951 the Junortoun site was purchased. Plans for the school building were finalized and on 17 February 1953 work began on the new college.
The first stage of the college was opened on Sunday 17 October 1954.Author: Peter Sweeney.
