A lightweight wooden baton 51 centimetres long, one and a half centimetres diameter at one end tapering to half a centimetre at the other. The thicker end has a metal cap and a one centimetre wide leather strip wound around it for ten centimetres of the baton. Music plays an important role in many aspects of life, both civic and social, on the island.
