There is a convoy of eight MK V International Cargo Trucks. The first truck has the number plate (ARN) 171 596 on it as well as the number 24 on the drivers door. At the front of there truck in white is the number 33 and on a yellow circle the number 12 in black. There are several soldiers on top of some of these vehicles. The foreground is either dirt or sand. Denis Gibbons (1937 – 2011) Trained with the Australian Army, before travelling to Vietnam in January 1966, Denis stayed with the 1st Australian Task Force in Nui Dat working as a photographer. For almost five years Gibbons toured with nine Australian infantry battalions, posting compelling war images from within many combat zones before being flown out in late November 1970 after sustaining injuries. The "lost convoy" is a variation of the song "bless 'em all". The original song was written by Fred Godfrey and became a well-known war song of the Second World War when it was published in 1940. There is no mention of the author of this variation of lyrics but the date is recorded as 'March-May 1942'. This rendition relates to the Australian experience of troops being sent to war, serving overseas, hoping to make it home to Australia by Christmas, and the opinion that of all the countries they've seen Australia is by far the best.The lyrics make particular mention of Australian Army Nurses and the part they played in the war experience.Two pages of white paper with black typing. Image depicts soldiers of the 2/24 Battalion in October 1941 awaiting transport to Palestine after 8 months in the desert at Tobruk.The 2/24th Battalion was an infantry battalion of the Australian Army, which served during World War II .A unit of all-volunteers, it was formed in July 1940 from primarily Victorian volunteers and was known as "Wangaratta's Own" because of the time the battalion spent in the town during its formative period prior to deployment overseas. It served in North Africa in 1941–1942 as part of the 26th Brigade, which was assigned to the 7th Division, before being reassigned to the 9th Division. In early 1943, the battalion returned to Australia and later took part in campaigns against the Japanese in New Guinea in 1943–1944 and Borneo in 1945, before being disbanded in 1946. The 2/24th suffered the highest number of casualties of any 2nd AIF infantry battalion.
