My work is informed by the moving images of my siblings as children recorded by my father, the houses and homes, spaces and events, which live on as objects themselves in various homes as photos, archives, projected and loved. The Art Collection features over 2000 works and was listed as a 'Ballarat Treasure' in 2007.Artists Statement: I am based in Northern NSW. My art practice is deeply influenced by my connections and experiences with the rivers and habitat where I live. Through drawing, paint, collage and digital media my work explores human relationships with riparian environments. Every day I see the undeniable beauty of our rivers as well as the ecological suffering of these riparian landscapes. Historical practices of land clearing, water politics and weed infestation put tremendous pressure on the Australian ecology. Disrupting traditional art forms, I combine them with new technologies to reveal some of the complexities behind human relationships with nature. With bold collagist experimentation, I combine numerous mediums to expose the small revelations between media. These juxtapositions open up the possibilities of reinventing different ways of being with the natural environment. Like the layers in my work, the issues surrounding our riverine environments are multifaceted and complex and begin with individual choices. I want to direct people’s attention to our rivers, to love, appreciate and reconnect with the natural environment. Human experience with nature is a fundamental part of our sense of self, health and well-being as well as community connection. LTCOL Rene van den Tol was the CO of the Army Survey Regiment from 1989 to 1991. Partly obscured behind the CO was Mr Bruce Reid, who was the newly elected federal member for Bendigo. The media event was held in Wayzgoose Hall, Lithographic Squadron’s new purpose-built building constructed to house the Speedmaster 102 printing press. The remaining 29 photographs were taken at an Army Survey Regiment Open Day at Fortuna Villa, Bendigo on the 24th of February 1990. This occasion was one of several events held to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the formation of the Royal Australian Survey Corps. Although historical tours of Fortuna occurred on a regular basis, this was the first technical open day since 1972. The Royal Australian Survey Corps recognised that an Open Day was the best way for the local community in Bendigo to gain an insight into the unit’s important role as Defence’s map production agency, its technical equipment, and its economic importance to Bendigo. It also gave them an opportunity to tour through historic Fortuna Villa. The final negatives (repromat) used to produce the printed products were the culmination of a complex cartographic process and were therefore carefully preserved and stored. Preservation of the so-called final negatives enabled subsequent reprinting with minimal cartographic intervention. Since the arrival of the Land Headquarters Cartographic Company at Fortuna in 1942 the repromat for all products produced by the Australian Survey Corps were carefully stored. With the disbandment of the Army Survey Regiment in 1996 the Defence Imagery and Geospatial Organisation (DIGO) inherited that repromat archive. It was immanent that the support for film based printing was ending so on 25 October 2004 a review was required to determine the way ahead for the repromat and paper maps stored in the DIGO Map Libraries. Most of these maps were produced by the Royal Australian Survey Corps. This report is the result of that review. The report recommends the disposal of the repromat and the retention of single map copies. Newspapers and other "paper" information publications are still producing "hard copies" but these are slowly being phased out. This item was used Circa 1920s in the peek period of paper based media. From the 1940s radio and then television stepped into the mass media revolution. This book was produced when all printing, Government and private enterprise, was using the "off set" method. This method was used to a great degree in all schools within the Kiewa Valley. It was in an era before "photo-copying machines" were available. This was a period when printing inks for larger printing machines had to be purchased from specialised outlets and printing presses required to be washed after each "run" of printing before the next plate(aluminium) could be fastened onto the "off sett" machinery. Heat infusion now used in large machines and domestic printers has superseded this task. Faded green cloth covered book with green papered front and back sleeve pages.Photos and sketches are throughout the book. Gloss paper used from page 1 one to page 400. Pages 401 to page 432 are not gloss paper. By the late 1980s until 1991, digital media, in the form of the compact disc, gradually replaced the vinyl record. ...Zonophone was a record label founded in 1899 in Camden, New Jersey, by Frank Seaman. The Zonophone name was not that of the company, but was applied to the records and machines sold by Seaman from 1899–1900 to 1903. In the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth, the Gramophone Company continued to use the Zonophone label until 1931. 'Zonophone' indicates the British label rather than Zon - O- Phone, the earlier American label. Madame Deering was Eleanor Jones-Hudson. Eleanor Jones-Hudson (1874-1946) was a Welsh soprano and wife of the flautist Eli Hudson. She recorded extensively for the Gramophone Company, in excerpts from opera, operetta, oratorio, ballads and songs. She was sometimes credited as Alvena Yarrow and as Madame Deering.
