The Second Boer War started late 1899. Rundle was appointed to be commander of the 8th Division of the South African Field Force and served until 1902. He served in Vietnam with the Australian Army Training Team Vietnam from March 1965 to November 1965, 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment from December 1965 to June 1966, Headquarters, Australian Force Vietnam (Army Component) from May 1969 to August 1969 and October 1969 to December 1969. He also visited Vietnam in October 1970 and July 1972. Col Preece was awarded The Companion Of The Distinguished Service Order.Newspaper Clippings about Lt Col Preece being spattered with red -tinted kerosene by a protester. The Kathleen Best Memorial Gates to open again The gates at the former Women's Royal Australian Army Corps (WRAAC) we erected as commemoration of the life of Colonel Kathleen Best, OBE RRC, the first director of the WRAAC. The gates have been moved and reerected at the Royal Military College, Duntroon.
