The skink was found in the garden on a property in Glenburn, Victoria, Australia. It was burnt during the February 2009 bushfires. Two specimens were found immediately after the bushfires however only one was locatable when donated.This specimen has historic significance for its association with the February 2009 bushfires. It is a rare, complete example of the impact of the bushfires on a diverse range of fauna in and around Yarra Ranges. Although many animals were affected by the bushfires, very few specimens were collected and preserved. Dight’s Falls in Studley Park is an artificial weir built on a natural rock bar across the Yarra. The weir was built in the 1840s to provide water to the ‘Ceres’ flour-mill, one of the first in Victoria. The falls were later to become known as Dight’s Falls after the owners of the mill. Later, a pumping station was built on the Kew side of the river, which pumped water uphill to a reservoir in Walmer Street that provided water to the Melbourne Botanical Gardens and to Albert Park Lake. The area around Dight’s Falls was and is frequently used for recreational activities.One of a series of photographs, probably taken by Henry Christian of the Yarra River in Kew. Moorabbin, Cheltenham and Highett are suburbs in the City of Kingston with a diverse mix of development and zoning. This 1954 image shows the market gardens, farms and paddocks of the Moorabbin and Cheltenham area. which have gradually been sub-divided into The Highett Gas Works is visible and Cheltenham Park and Victoria Golf Club.The suburbs of Cheltenham and Moorabbin were originally developed with extensive market gardens. Over time the district has been transformed with the farms and paddocks replaced by housing, factories and shopping centres. The Highett Gas Works on the Nepean Highway was a significant feature of the landscape and has now been demolished. and the site has undergone remediation.Aerial photograph of Cheltenham, Moorabbin and Highett within the City of Kingston.
