This photographic copy of an older photo shows a tram track laying gang in an unnamed street. While the inscription describes these men as a the Victorian Railways McKenzie gang, the freshly installed tramway rail with flangeways and the completed tramway track on the adjacent roadway suggest one of two explanations. Perhaps they were diverted from their usual work of laying railway track; or the photographer was mistaken in his description.
