Dr. William Faulkner, formerly from Queensland, had it built for his residence in 1911. The property also included a garage, which accommodated his automobile and accommodation for his chauffeur. Owners in more recent times were Keith Campbell, who previously owned 'Willowbank' in the old Broadmeadows township and Bill Landeroo a former Victorian State MP. The buildings and surrounds have been redeveloped and the property is now the Sunbury Day Care Hospital.'Ardcloney' is one of Sunbury's significant historical properties in the town.A non-digital black and white photograph of a two- storey Californian style mansion in a garden setting. Ardcloney House Dr. William Faulkner A coloured photograph of two ...This is a more recent photograph than entry P0854.The two storey house was built for Dr.William Faulkner in 1911. It is opposite the intersection of Evans and Macedon Streets. As well as the house, a garage was also built for the doctor's car, along with smaller building for the chauffeur. Dr. Faulkner was one of the first people in Sunbury to own a car. Doctor Faulkner lived at Ardcloney until he died in 1922. Over the years it had other owners and in the early 2000s, it was taken over by the State government and is now a day-care hospital. It was then bought by the local state school headmaster, John James Rogers, for over 6,500 pounds. In the early 1940s a grazier, Eric George Whiteside, bought the property. Bill Landeryou, MLC lived in the house until the late 1980s.
