Garsed, John Latham, Town Clerk, George Avery Fletcher. ...Sir John McIntyre (1832-1904) was a key figure in the Bendigo goldfields, a pharmacy owner, a prominent mining investor, and a leader in local government. McIntyre served on the Sandhurst Municipal Council (starting in 1859) and held the position of Mayor of the Borough of Sandhurst for six consecutive years (1863–1868), a period coinciding with the city’s early development and significant gold production. During his time as Mayor, he hosted the Prince of Wales (Duke of Edinburgh) visit in 1867, which featured a famous, albeit disastrous, fireworks display.Illuminated Address given to John McIntyre Esquire for his time in the Bendigo City Council in the years 1859 - 1860 - 1862 and Mayor of the Borough of Sandhurst: 1863, 1864, 1865, 1866, 1867, 1868.
