This clock was originally from the Eaglehawk RSL Sub Branch, one of 3 RSL’s in Bendigo. In 2004 Eaglehawk RSL wound down and became part of the Bendigo District RSL Sub Branch Inc. As stated the roll is from 1939 through to 2005. In 2004/5 The Eaglehawk Sub Branch of the RSL wound down and amalgamated with the Bendigo District RSL Sub Branch Inc. The Sub branch initially from 1939 - 1943 rented a building located at 18 - 22 High St Eaglehawk. The Mathews bros then donated it to the Sub Branch in 1943 as per the plaque Cat No 8117. The Sub branch moved to a new building which was a Nissan Hut at No 2A Market Place in Eaglehawk 1957. This building was opened as per the plaque Cat No 8118. The original plaque Cat No 8117 was moved to the new building as well. The Branch remained there until they amalgamated with Bendigo. The receipts and expenditure of the EagleHawk RSL Sub Branch cover the years 1960 - 2005. On the final entry a note in red pen dated 28.2.2005 that this was the close of business and the amalgamation of the Eaglehawk RSL Sub Branch with The Bendigo RSL, a final date under is 7.03.2005.Receipt expenditure book, spine and corners are brown leather suede, front & rear face is green buckram, a label on the spine Has "CASH BOOK", ruled lines in blue /red, vertical lines in red. The entries are in blue pen and some minor points in red. On the first page is a typed letter pasted in re a 5 Pound School Scholarship from the Eagle Hawk RSL per year. At the rear is a hand written note with a list of 12 names being the "Foundation Members". Lose is an invoice for the use of the Eaglehawk building by the Electoral Commission re the use of the building for $300.00. The first edition is dated Saturday March 6th 1915, each is a weekly edition beginning on a Saturday. The last entry is dated Saturday December 28th 1918. As much as can be ascertained Volumes 1 and 6 are missing from this set. Wars beginning 1914 - February 1915 and Volume 6 March 1917 - November 1917. These volumes were originally donated to the Eaglehawk RSL Sub Branch. This certificate was awarded by the Eaglehawk RSL Sub Branch to Miss H. Hutchinson (Hanna) on 17.5.1946 in Appreciation and loyalty to Service personnel as a Member of the Eaglehawk Ladies Auxiliary during the War years. The Auxiliaries efforts abled the furnishing of the Club rooms and raise 230.00 Pounds for the Returned Soldiers Distress Fund.
