... ...Enterainment...This sign has been hanging on the building since 1959 and pulled down in 2026 Natimuk Brass Band Enterainment Community Event Music KNIGHT Mechanics Institute Sign Natimuk Brass Band - Outdoor Building Sign ...When the Natimuk Brass Band formed in 1886, practice meetings were done at band members homes until 1908 when they began practicing at the Mechanics Institute Hall (now the Natimuk and District Soldiers Memorial Hall [101 Main Street]. Between 1930-1947 the band went into due to their instruments being destroyed in Ratcliffe’s Store fire [87 Main Street]. When they reformed a credit balance was held of two shillings & six pence (£0-2-6). From 1947 to 1959, band practice was conducted at KNIGHT’s former grocery business [54-56 Main Street]. The Natimuk Fire Brigade relocated to a new building in 1959 therefore vacating their old premises at 91 Main Street to make way for the band’s first and final home until December 2026 when the band ceased after 140 years of dedication to Natimuk and the district. "The Oriental Fair transformed the Ballarat City Hall for three consecutive days. Stalls of many types were heavily laded, and, as one reveller commented, 'The perpetual motion of the fairty floss machine, producing its quaint confection, was an object of interest and wonderment to many, and the crack of the pea rifle in the adjoining shooting gallery almost dispersed the feathery flakes of fairy floss as they issued from the magic machine'.
