It is one of a number of items in the Sartori Collection.Mother and daughter, Dorothea Fush (nee Winstanley) and Thea Sartori (nee Fush) were both skilled dressmakers. One of the items donated was entered in the Royal Melbourne Show in the 1960s and won an award for home dressmaking. An accompanying seating plan lists the attendees including the Governor of Victoria, the Victorian Premier, State and Federal parliamentary representatives and distinguished guests from neighbouring municipalities. The evening dress was donated to the Society by Kaye Cole on the occasion of an interview on 6 August 2018 relating to the period on which she served on Kew Council as a representative of North Ward (1973-6) and Prospect Ward (1978-85) and her achievements as mayor.Brown acetate evening gown, and floor-length evening coat retailed by Bianca, Sydney, and manufactured under licence to Henry Chavan, Lyon & Paris. This is a program given by the Warrnambool College Jazz Band in 1994. Gary Hommelhoff worked with Warrnambool College students and conducted the Junior Concert Band, the Intermediate Concert Band, the Senior Concert Band and Brass and Clarinet ensembles as well as the Jazz Band. The program gives us an indication of the extent of music tuition and practice at Warrnambool College in the 1990s. This ensemble was not owned by Lady Barbara Grimwade unlike the rest of the garments in this collection. It was donated to the Gallery by Mrs Jessie Briggs after she became aware of the Gallery’s extensive Tu collection. Mrs Briggs (Krongold) wore this ensemble to the marriage of her son, Lionel Krongold, at the Kew Synagogue, Melbourne. To compliment this outfit, Mrs Briggs wore gold shoes and a small Italian gold bag with the gown, a pair of diamond drop earrings, gold chain with diamonds, a gold bracelet with four diamonds and a simple Omega gold watch.

This item is part of the Di Reidie collection. Diane Reidie was a much loved volunteer and President of Brighton Historical Society from 1999 until 2016. Originally from New Zealand, Di and her family lived in Male Street, Brighton for many years. A vibrant and energetic person with a zest for life and a gift for bringing people together, Di was a friend to many in the Bayside community and active in local community organisations. Her tireless work as President of BHS saw her named Bayside Citizen of the Year in 2008. As a seller and collector of vintage clothing, she was passionate about fashion history; one of her many enduring contributions to BHS was her extensive work in preserving, developing and promoting the Society's costume collection. In 2018-19, Di donated more than one hundred items from her personal vintage clothing collection to the Society. The collection, which includes clothing, hats, handbags and shoes from local and international designers, is representative of Di's wide-ranging interests, colourful personality, creativity, humour and love of fashion and travel.
