Badges from the Harbour Lights Guild were found in a bag in the archives. 20 of them were framed as memorabilia to give to women of substance of the Mission as a token of appreciation. The number 2 was given to Linda Dessau, Governor of Victoria, in 2017. Allied military badges collected during the Great War 1914 to 1918 by Private (Shoeing Smith) John BLAIKIE 2341 who was born at Wangaratta. He was a Blacksmith and at the age of 42 enlisted on May 28 1915. He embarked on August 10 1915 and served with the 14th Battalion. He returned to Australia in January 1918 and discharged as medically unfit on April 10 1918. Gallipoli star medal and badge belonged to Private Thomas E. Rollings 1983 who was born at Tallangatta and enlisted on the 21/6/1915 at age 24 . He served with the 24th Battalion and on the 11/ 11/1915 at Lone Pine received severe bomb wounds to both legs and right arm. On 24/12/1915 his right leg was amputated and he was repatriated home in January 1916. He served with the 14th Battalion and was killed in the field on 7/8/1916. He is buried at Pozieres in an unknown grave. 2813 James Albert HANDLEY was born at Williamstown and enlisted at Wangaratta/Melbourne on 3/10/1916 aged 29 years. He served with the 38th Battalion and was killed in the field on 18/7/1918. He is buried at Villiers-Brettoneux.
