Entrance to the Museum, showing a map of the area. Over the door in the sign "Golden Grain Museum". Formerly the Mechanics Institute which was built in 1882. The museum took over the building in 1973. The entrance exterior was built in 1950 as part of the Infant Welfare Centre which was in use until 1963. Built in 1926 the Ben Green memorial Rotunda was named after a local citizen of Charlton. Ben Green was a solicitor and member who supported many school prizes for literature. Ben was also president of the Charlton Club and of the Charlton Coursing Club. Ben was a keen tennis player, winning Victorian Championships in 1892, 1893, and 1984.
