'Grantully' was formerly 'Rosemount', South Yarra, home of Thoas Elder Boyd. Brought to Mt Evelyn by Fergus Scott c. 1917, guesthouse 1920's-30's, home of artist Ernest Buckmaster 1940-68.Part of wooden beam possibly cedar, from the house "Grantully", English, 1840's. The more recently sawn end has pinkish tinge. The rectangular cavity is a 'mortise' into which a projection ('tenon') on another piede fitted.Inscription on one side, possibly made by permanent marker.
