A large leather brown/gilt cover book with black leather bound and corners. 392 p. with coloured and b/w illustrations. It includes a table of contents of volume 1, 18 illuminated engraved (colour) plates, indexes to the engravings at the end of the book. 'Old England' gilt decoration on spine. The book shows how life was like in old England in regards to people, places, architecture and fashions, etc. from Roman times through to Industrial age.
