Both copies - This sheet music was composed by A.J.Bates in 1928 as part of the Warrnambool celebrations when the city won the Ideal Town competition that year. This was the first Ideal Town award, a competition sponsored by the The Sun newspaper with the finalists decided by votes sent in by The Sun readers. Warrnambool won in the large town category. Warrnambool Council and local businesses used the award as a tourist promotion tool. This ledger contains newspaper cuttings form The Warrnambool Standard newspaper from May 1891 to October 1917. The cuttings are reports of meetings of the Warrnambool Waterworks Trust. In the early days of Warrnambool domestic water and water for fire suppression was supplied by tanks, wells and springs. In the 1870s various schemes were proposed to find a better supply of water. In 1891 the Warrnambool Waterworks Trust was formed using water from the Merri River. This system lasted until 1939 when the Warrnambool water supply came from the Otway ranges. This system is still the water supply for Warrnambool today. The cuttings in this ledger will be useful for research.This is a ledger with a brown mottled cover and a leather spine and leather corners. The spine is partly detached. The front cover has a label pasted on it. The pages originally had hand written entries (The Minutes of a Warrnambool organisation). Newspaper cuttings have been pasted over the original writing. Gives an understanding of the variety of special purpose tickets issued by the Electric Supply Company for use on the Provincial Tramways of Victoria.The Newspaper Package Ticket is issued by the Electricity Supply Department of the State Electricity Commission of Victoria for use on the Provincial Tramways. The 3d Parcel Check, and 4d Parcel Ticket, issued by the same body, allow for the carriage of packages not exceeding 28lb, from their point of being handed to the conductor, to the depot. The tickets detail the requirements of use, and a statement protecting the commission from liability. the tickets are all printed in red ink on a cream/ beige paper.Some of the tickets are stamped with the word Cancelled. Some of the tickets are printed with an original number. Saturday 3/2/1996 written by Peter Hiscock, Chairman Ballarat Tourism Board replying to D.H. Woodward's (notes as former councillor) letter of 31/1/1996 (item 1468), commenting that the study should be done before knocking the project. Notes that the questions are valid, but the study should be done. Notes that Mr. Woodward has opposed many heritage projects. See also Reg. item 1469 for original of the cutting. 2. This is the diary of Frank L. Frost; a beekeeper who worked in North-East Victoria. It covers from 1915 to 1924.This diary is very significant as it gives details about the methods used by early beekeepers in Australia. Two Newspaper clippings or Illustrations contained within Reg. Item 2488, page 81 showing two ESCo trams (one Californian combination and the other a Sebastopol tram) in Sturt St near Grenville St, with the original tramway shelter in the background and the other the mass photo of horse trams (See Reg. Item 2491) and hand written notes about the two photographs by H.P James. James notes the circumstances of the 2nd photo - taken to show the Directors of ESCo in Liverpool Ballarat and their tramway assets. The Second photo James says was taken c1923 (just) - prior to the removal of the shelter. Also provides notes on the colours of the tram route indicators and times of services. The Northern District School of Nursing opened in 1950 in to address the issues around nurse recruitment, training and education that had previously been hospital based. The residential school was to provide theoretical and in-house education and practical training over three years. The students would also receive practical hands-on training in the wards of associated hospitals. The Northern District School of Nursing operated from Lister House, Rowan Street, Bendigo. It was the first independent school of nursing in Victoria and continued until it closed in 1989. The book "The First of its Kind" was published in 2015. Printed in Bendigo by "Bendigo Modern Press". Memories compiled by Peter Rosewall; who attended the last NDSN school PTS 108 between 1986 - 89.Original newspaper article from Bendigo Advertiser 23 January 2014 titled " A closer look at the art of medicine". A photograph in the article shows School 64 1965 with one tutor nurse and six student nurses looking at a dummy patient in a hospital bed. The article was about an exhibition being held at the Post Office Gallery which was entitled " A cure for all ills: medicine in Bendigo" which opened on 7th February. This followed a brief history of medicine in Bendigo from the time of the Gold Rush.
