The building is the stables at 'Harpsdale', at Mickleham. The land was used for grazing by nearly European settlers from as early as 1836. The Brodie family purchased the property along with others in the area in 1864 and remained there until 1906. The homestead was built on the property in 1875 and the stables were built in 1883.
