A substantial two storeyed stuccoed asymetrical Italianate villa with two storeyed verandah of stuccoed masonry and cast-iron columns with round arches to both levels. The fascia boards have fretted valance treatment with bracketed frieze. The body bricks are marked "Fritsch Holzer", "Standard" and "Box Hill" (double frogged). Called "Tyneholm" it is believed to be the home of retired sea captain, James Hall. It was sold to the Salvation Army in 1913 when it became the administrative centre for the Box Hill Boys' home and was known as "Howard House".
