Eight Page A4 size printed report on the progress of the reconstruction of Horse Tram No. 1 produced during 1988 about the work being carried out by the BTPS. Consists of two A3 sheets printed both sides and folded to form an A4 size report. Includes work to date, some notes on the horse trams, sponsors, the Ballarat Vintage Tramway itself. Shows the state of the body of that the Ballarat Tramway Preservation Society recovered of the 1887 Horse Tram from the rear of a property in Anderson St Balllarat. The body was built by Duncan and Fraser in Adelaide. Photographed outside the Wendouree Parade depot, late 1887, with 16 workmen standing or lying around the tramcar. Builders Photo. Tram is lettered "BALLAARAT TRAMWAY CO LIMITED". Drafted for a Trust. A double deck horse drawn tram with single saloon. drop ends, stairs, longitudinal seats, sliding doors, wheels of cast iron, hand brakes - see notes. Originally built by Duncan & Fraser in 1887. Rebuilt by BTPS 1991. From the BTM Fleet page on the website: Built in 1887 by Duncan and Fraser for the Ballaarat Tramway Company Ltd. as a double-decked horse tramcar. One of eight cars which ran as trailers behind electric trams at times of heavy patronage, after takeover and conversion of the horse lines by the Electric Supply Company of Victoria Ltd. in 1905. Withdrawn in the late 1920's when the body shell became a residential outbuilding locally, until retrieved in 1985. Fully reconstructed to its original form and placed on a modified Melbourne saloon cable car truck. See attached notestrams, horse trams, tram 1
