Like many residents of the Sunshine district, Joe started his working life as an apprentice at Massey Ferguson in Sunshine. In the fifth year of his apprenticeship, Joe Wlodarczyk was named the 1968 Apprentice of the Year. In 1969, he changed career path, becoming a draftsman for the Gas and Fuel in Melbourne. Joe married another Polish immigrate, Halina, who also migrated to Poland to Australia in the 1950's. Over the years Joe became very active in the Sunshine community...immigration camps, the family built a house and settled in Esmond Street, Ardeer Park.
