Functional object - Trolley Pole Signal Skate or contactor, The Forest City Electric Co. Limited England, 1930s
Used by the Forrest City Signal system to initiate or cancel a signal indication. The trolley wheel would make contact with the steel strips which would send an electrical impulse to the control box that either would enable the signal to be shown or cancelled. There was one on the trolley wire at either end of the section.
