As well as the official opening for the Low Vision Clinic extension of Kelaston, the residents also had their own party to celebrate the opening. To assist people in accessing service, volunteer drivers were used to facilitate transport to and from Kelaston. In 1985 the Kelaston Auxiliary celebrated it's 60th anniversary.
