Kilpatrick and Co were London based Mathematical Instrument Makers, Opticians, Goldsmiths, Jewellers and Watchmakers who operated in Melbourne at various Collins Street addresses between 1876 and 1898. Believed to have been a part of the Shire of Marong's surveying equipment.Rectangular brass ruler with beveled edges and rollers on underside. Housed in custom made hinged wooden box. Kilpatrick & Co., Melbourne were active 1853-1925.A brass protractor, used in developing plans in the Engineer's Department of the City of KewCircular brass protractor in a square mahogany lidded case, retailed by Kilpatrick & Co., Melbourne. The protractor was used by staff in the Engineering Department of the former City of Kew. Handwritten inscription on label on lid:" J.R. Gray. May Coles (1915 - 2007) worked for more than 25 years at the exclusive Georges store in Collins St. May lived nearby the West Preston tram terminus and caught the tram to work. The work was commissioned by May to recall those special years of her work at Georges. Lord Raglan Hotel (‘The Raglan’) built by Strachan 1855 in Unitt Street, was moved to High street. The owners of the hotel included Kilpatricks and Richard Manning. The hotel was a major coach staging point, with large stables to accommodate the teams. Demolished in 1927. Mr and Mrs Kilpatrick with their children outside the front of the hotel.local architecture

This clock was originally from the Eaglehawk RSL Sub Branch, one of 3 RSL’s in Bendigo. In 2004 Eaglehawk RSL wound down and became part of the Bendigo District RSL Sub Branch Inc.
