This map shows an area of land north of Bacchus Marsh in the Larderderg State Park area known as the Parish of Coornmill.The map indicates an area of land which was to be made available by public tender for grazing leaseholders. The plan to do this was discussed in the Bacchus Marsh Express newspaper on the 16 July, 1904, page 2, column 7. The area reserved for grazing leases is identified by red lines on the map. The map shows the names of people living in the parish of Mullindolingong in 1906. These people had leases or licences giving the reader an insight into the number of people in the area and an understanding of the size of their holdings. Infrastructure is also given including shops, schools, churches etc. Presumably it was used by the Ryder family.This map gives an historical insight into the parish of Mullindolingong as it names people and the infrastructure - roads, buildings etc. as it was in 1906. He resided at Marramook in Hawkesdale and later moved to Vaucluse in Hopetoun Road Warrnambool, where he died in 1920 at the age of 87. He was involved in many aspects of life in the Western District, racing, cricket, and social activities to name a few. This lease relates to land at the parish of Ballangeich county of Villiers. This is one of a number of documents which relate to the Bostock family who were one of the most important pioneering families of the Western District. The Old Tom mine site in the Whipstick forest, near Eaglehawk, can still be seen. The shaft has a ringlock fence surrounding it. In 1897, William E. Sheehan, was a mining investor. He applied for a lease "South Loesers Gold Mining Company' in the Whipstick, adjoining the F.G. Loesers lease. Previously occupied by the Parks and Environment Department of Nillumbik Shire Council (L-R: Mark Gillham, Margaret Ball Vice President, Sue Law Immediate Past President, Harry Gilham President) Nillumbik Shire Council Commissioner Vin Heffernan (1996-97) worked with Harry Gilham to obtain use of the former Eltham Shire Parks and Gardens office at 728 Main Road for use by the Society. Harry as a younger man had played in the scrum for Heidelberg Football Club along with Vin's brother who was on the wing. Bob (Herman) Hymans (a former member of the Royal Netherlands Navy) was born in Bloemendaal, Holland on 30th September 1922. During World War II he fought against the Japanese in the Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia) and was imprisoned in Changi and on the Burma Railway. After gaining qualifications as a Ski Instructor, Bob arrived in Falls Creek in July 1950. Working as an Instructor and Supervisor at Bogong Lodge, Bob decided his future was in accommodation. He was successful in negotiating an indenture for land from the State Electricity Commission (SEC). It took Bob two years to build his Grand Coeur Chalet but, tragically, it was burned down in August 1961. Bob also built the first Chairlift in Australia. This was a single chairlift and the structure was built from wooden electricity poles. He was constantly full of new ideas and proposals for the village. Bob Hymans died on 7th July 2007. This Collection of documents and letters tells the story of Bob's endeavours to develop Falls Creek into the ski village it is today.This item is significant because it documents proposals put forward by Bob Hymans to develop facilities in the Falls Creek Tourist Area.A response from Mr. Hymans in response to the release of information related to the design of the extension to Christie Street in Falls Creek. As a result he wished to apply for a long-term lease of each site. I am in receipt of a letter from the General Superintendent Kiewa of the 3rd of April 1964. It was to inform me that the creation of new sites divided (?) with a 50’ ski road between them in trees of Site 4.
