DIGO has vacated Fortuna Villa after 66 years and moved to a new headquarters at Atlas Road, Longlea.The move was completed recently, with staff farewelling the old site and removal trucks seen transporting items. The official opening of the Longlea facility is scheduled for early November, with celebrations to honor Fortuna Villa's legacy. Army surveyors originally moved into Fortuna Villa in 1942, and the Department of Defence has occupied the property since then. The property is now in higher demand, and its future use is under local discussion.The Villa Fortuna Action Group is preparing a proposal for the City of Greater Bendigo to develop the site into an arts and cultural precinct.
