Pocket Watch, 1810
The watch was presented to the Museum by John Stuart Hepburn's Great Great Grandson. Before travelling to Australia he was a seafarer in the Merchant Navy. In 1835 he was an Overlander. Capt. Hepburn returned in 1837 with his family to Victoria and was an early pastoralist and took up land at Smeaton. He died at Smeaton House in 1860 aged 57. Associated with Capt.John HepburnBrass outer case Pocket Watch with ceramic face. 1 to 12 are in Roman numerals. Fusee workings. Cracked face between 1 & 2.
