This is the third in a series of 6 coasters commemorating the Australian Defence Forces. The medals are: Australian Active Service Medal (Malaya); Naval General Service Medal 1915-62; Australian Service Medal 1945-75. Unlike the more conventional memorial halls and RSL clubs around Melbourne, the West St Kilda branch operated out of a substantial domestic mansion. It occupied a grand Victorian-era residence that was constructed around the turn of 20th century and bequeathed to the RSL during the Second World War.
