This painting was created by Belgian-born artist Marcel Leman in c. 1964. Leman was a member of the Victorian Artists Society and the Bottle Brush Club, and a founding member of the Malvern Artists Society. The painting depicts a view looking up to John's Hill in Emerald. It was purchased by Jo Jenkinson from Leman's son in the 1980s, reframed and hanged in that home in Emerald until they moved away in 2012.Gift of Jo JenkinsonThis item is a large landscape watercolour painting bordered by a white margin. The painting depicts a hilled landscape; the foreground features several rows of bushes, the midground rises to a tin-roofed house and shed surrounded by trees, and the background climbs more rapidly to a high hill with sparse trees and a cloudy sky. The painting relies mostly on greens in depicting the landscape, with occasional shades of brown interspersed and the lighter colours of the buildings standing out.Obverse, Artist signature: "MLEMAN"
