These photographs, taken by The Advocate in 1999, feature Fr. Synesios Franges preparing his church for Orthodox Holy Week and Easter celebrations. The images show Fr. Franges decorating the church interior, including the placement of silk ribbons on the chandeliers, a traditional practice associated with the solemn observances leading up to Easter. These preparations formed part of the extensive arrangements undertaken to mark one of the most significant periods in the Orthodox Christian calendar. These photographs provide a record of the religious traditions maintained by the local Greek Orthodox community and the important role of the church in celebrating and preserving cultural and spiritual heritage within Melbourne’s western suburbs.7683.01 - Saint Paraskevi, Saint Barbara and Saint John the Merciful Greek Orthodox Church 22 Marsden Crescent St. Albans 1999 Photographs (Advocate 129).JPG 7683.02 - Saint Paraskevi, Saint Barbara and Saint John the Merciful Greek Orthodox Church 22 Marsden Crescent St. Albans 1999 Photographs (Advocate 129).JPG 7683.03 - Saint Paraskevi, Saint Barbara and Saint John the Merciful Greek Orthodox Church 22 Marsden Crescent St. Albans 1999 Photographs (Advocate 129).JPG 7683.04 - Saint Paraskevi, Saint Barbara and Saint John the Merciful Greek Orthodox Church 22 Marsden Crescent St. Albans 1999 Photographs (Advocate 129).JPG 7683.05 - Saint Paraskevi, Saint Barbara and Saint John the Merciful Greek Orthodox Church 22 Marsden Crescent St. Albans 1999 Photographs (Advocate 129).JPG 7683.06 - Saint Paraskevi, Saint Barbara and Saint John the Merciful Greek Orthodox Church 22 Marsden Crescent St. Albans 1999 Photographs (Advocate 129).JPGsaint paraskevi saint barbara and saint john the merciful greek orthodox church, mardens street, st. albans
