The TAAFE family included his brother, Nicolas 'Nick' TAAFE, his wife Martha TAAFE nee GILMORE, her sister, Ellen 'Nell' VALE and Mary Genevieve VALE, Bridget BENNETT nee TAAFE, Aileen CAMPBELL nee TAAFE. Gerald died in 1935 aged 53 and his wife, Martha died in 1974 aged 92.
