Mr. Mosche Meretz will continue for a further term, it has been officially announced.The continuity of headmastership is of major importance as the college has recently opened Form 1 and is scheduled to open Form 2 in 1970. During Mr. Meretz' headmastership, the college has almost doubled its student population to 206 pupils. Mr. Meretz who is accompanied by his wife and five-year old son, is Israeli born and educated. He is a graduate of Teachers' Seminary institute in Haifa and was a teacher and headmaster of primary and more recently secondary schools in Hafia. Apart from his tecahing qualifications Mr. Meretz has a law degree from Tel Aviv branch of Hebrew University. Mr. Meretz was already at the college on Wednesday and was welcomed by the staff and pupils. Bialik College Council is confident that Mr. Meretz' presence in Melbourne will not only benefit the school but will have an impact on Hebrew education in the community as did that of his predecessor Mr. A. "'Native Plants' Winner", Free Press Camberwell, 26 March 1969 "'Native Plants' Winner Vivien Feniger, a grade 6 pupil at Bialik College, Hawthorn won first prize in the junior section of Hawthorn Australia Day Committee's 1969 competition. For her successful entry on the theme "Native Plants" Vivien won a trophy donated by the committee, $10 cash donated by the bank of NSW, and a book donated by the Shell Company.
