Mitcham Chamber of Commerce has disbanded because of lack of support from retailers. Former chamber president, Graeme Miller, was approached by Whitehorse Council with plans to revitalise Mitcham Shopping Centre. He lamented the Council's decision not to open the Mall to traffic. The opportunity shop was established by volunteers to raise funds for groups as listed. The shop was in Enterprize Way, Mitcham on land once occupied by White's Hay & Corn Stores.
